“Good enough, Mr. Armus, let's keep this quiet. I don't want Raines to get wind of what we are doing. I'll have some more business for you later.” said Will “Raines won't hear a word about this from me, Mr. Cannon.” promised Armus.

When Will got back to the table Ted Owens was tuning up his fiddle. Soon the fiddlers were making sweet music. Will bought another pitcher of lemonade and sat by Little Fawn while the fiddlers played. The music woke Red Dove up and she climbed into Will's lap and drank some lemonade. The music lasted for an hour and a half. After that the women began to set up the food line again. They ate some more roasted beef and then walked over to the dance platform.

Lash and Bob danced with Red Pony and White Duck for several dances and then they danced with some of the young women from Grants. There were more men at the dance than women. Soon other cowboys began to dance with Red Pony and White Duck. Red Dove pulled on Will's sleeve. She wanted Will to dance with her. Will held the beautiful little girl in his arms and danced around the dance floor. Little Red Dove laughed and had a very good time. Will danced with Little Fawn a couple of times and then the fiddle players took a break. Will was ready to take the Navajos back to their village. Chief Black Wolf was getting very tired now. Will told Lash and Bob and Wilson to load up the wagons for the trip to the Navajo Village.

Will retrieved Red from the livery stable and rode down the street toward the wagons. They were almost ready to leave town when Will saw Slim walking toward him. Slim walked over to Ted Owens. “Uh, Mr. Owens, I was wondering if you needed any help at your ranch?” asked Slim. “I thought you worked for Raines, Slim.” said Owens.

“I did, but he fired me for costing him money when I lost the fight. Raines won't pay me the wages he owes me and I ain't got no place else to go.” stated Slim.

Ted Owens looked over at Will Cannon. “Are you all right, Slim?” said Will. “I'm OK, Mr. Cannon. You won the fight fair and square. I never liked working for Raines anyhow.” said Slim. “OK, Slim, you can work for me. I need a good teamster to haul freight to the Navajo Village. Let's go get your money from Raines,” said Will Cannon.

Raines and his hired killers were drinking in Raines's saloon. Wilson checked his sawed off double barreled shotgun. Bob and Lash and Ted Owens checked their pistols. “I'll be watching Whitley and Hart. You all keep an eye on the other men. Be careful, this could be a trap. Don't start shooting unless they go for their guns,” warned Will.

Raines wasn't expecting visitors that night. He was sitting at a card table playing poker. Whitley and Hart were nowhere to be seen.
